Giuseppe Scapinelli
Giuseppe Scapinelli (born 1891 in Modena, Italy) emigrated to Brazil, where in the early 1950s he built a career as a painter, ceramist, sculptor and furniture designer, founding the Fábrica de Móveis Giesse. His furniture is known for soft, sculptural lines and his use of Amazonian hardwoods, and he is now regarded as one of the most influential figures in twentieth-century Brazilian design.
