Giuseppe Scapinelli

Giuseppe Scapinelli (1891–1982) was born in Italy and worked in São Paulo from the 1920s. His furniture sits between the two traditions — Italian proportion cut from Brazilian hardwoods, with a looseness in the leg shapes that European work of the same date does not have.

Coffee and side tables in caviuna, imbuia and teak, some with glass tops. Brazilian modernist material is getting harder to find in Europe each year.
