Round Coffee Table by Giuseppe Scapinelli in Wood, Brazil, 1950's
This sculptural coffee table by Giuseppe Scapinelli shows his signature balance between modernist structure and a more organic, almost architectural line. Designed in Brazil in the mid-20th century, the table has a round top with four-way matched veneer that radiates from the center, giving a subtle play of symmetry and grain. The gently tapered legs flare outward and give the table an elevated lightness, while the deep bevel and recessed apron add a layered, almost floating effect. Made in richly toned hardwood, the piece has developed a natural patina.
Scapinelli’s furniture is known for its craftsmanship and curves—never just decorative, but always part of the structural logic. This table is a good example of his ability to work with volume and rhythm in wood. It pairs well with both modernist and more eclectic interiors and is suitable as a coffee table or even a sculptural side piece.
