An increasingly scarce example of Dutch industrial design from the postwar period, notable for its clean shade, complete mechanics, and precise articulation.
The arm consists of three hinges made up of eleven interlocking metal rings, allowing for a wide range of positions while remaining very firm and stable, without sagging. Fine adjustment of the arm tension is possible using the small red ring wrench, discreetly stored behind the on/off switch on the wall plate. All components function correctly.
Because of its originality, condition, and completeness, this is a genuine collector’s piece and a strong representation of Rietveld’s functional and industrial design approach.
