Poul Kjærholm

Poul Kjærholm (1929–1980) was a Danish furniture architect who trained as a cabinetmaker before studying at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. His steel-framed furniture, produced from the mid-1950s by E. Kold Christensen and later by Fritz Hansen, won the Lunning Prize in 1958 for the PK22 chair and the Grand Prize at the Milan Triennale in 1957 and 1960; he later taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, becoming a professor in 1976.
