Hans Wegner

Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) was a Danish furniture designer, trained as a cabinetmaker before studying under Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen at Copenhagen’s School of Arts and Crafts. Known as the ‘King of Chairs’, he produced more than 500 designs over his career — around a hundred of which went into production — working with makers including Johannes Hansen, Carl Hansen & Søn, Fritz Hansen and, from 1969, PP Møbler. His Round Chair and Wishbone Chair remain among the defining pieces of Danish Modern design.
