Franco Albini

Franco Albini (1905–1977) was a Milanese architect and furniture designer, trained at the Politecnico di Milano, who opened his own practice in 1930 after working for Gio Ponti. His furniture includes the Margherita and Gala cane chairs (1950), the Fiorenza armchair for Arflex (1952) and the Luisa chair (1955), alongside major architectural projects such as Milan’s metro stations; he won the Compasso d’Oro three times and was appointed Royal Designer for Industry in 1971.
