A. Mangiarotti M1 Dining Table for Tisettanta early production in Marble, 1969
€25.950,00 EUR
Rare ‘M1’ dining table designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for Tisettanta, executed entirely in Grigio Carnico marble from the Friuli region in Italy. This marble is known for its deep, dark grey tone with bold white veining that gives each piece a unique, almost painterly character. The veining on this example is particularly expressive: it evokes prehistoric rock drawings, birch tree silhouettes and abstract landscapes, as if the surface were a living fossil.
Mangiarotti’s design language is defined by pure geometry and perfect proportions. The conical pedestal flows elegantly into the thin circular top, creating a light and balanced silhouette. The proportions are exceptionally well resolved — a perfect tension between weight and delicacy. The continuous veining between base and top reinforces the sculptural unity of the piece.
This is an early Tisettanta production, identifiable by the distinctive shape of the top section of the conical base and the way it connects to the marble top — subtly different from later Skipper productions. On the underside, remnants of the original serial number label are still visible. Another beautiful detail is the original gypsum layer inside the base, where the fine craquelure clearly reveals its age. All these details underline the table’s authenticity and its origin in the late 1960s / early 1970s.
For decades, the marble was protected by a thin epoxy layer — a common practice at the time. We have carefully removed that layer and hand-polished the surface, revealing the original depth and richness of the stone. The result is a vibrant surface with a deep grey tone and striking natural drawings, preserved in outstanding condition.
Condition: very good to excellent. No cracks, chips or scratches. Only minor, natural traces of age and use. The top has been fully polished and now shows its original depth and shine again. A rare and characterful example of this iconic model.
The last photo was taken during the restoration process. After that the table was polished. More photos on request.
