Italian Chandelier in Wood, Brass and Metal, 1950's
€550,00 EUR
Rare mid-century Italian chandelier in wood, brass and lacquered metal, 1950s.
A highly expressive, sculptural design with a strong architectural presence. The chandelier is built around a central black lacquered body with refined brass detailing, from which six elegantly curved arms extend. Each arm is paired with a shaped wooden fin, creating a rhythmic composition that feels both dynamic and balanced.
The use of warm-toned wood, adds depth and contrast against the brass structure. The combination of materials is very typical for Italian lighting of this period, where craftsmanship and expressive form were equally important. The carved central element and the wing-like wooden panels give the piece a slightly futuristic, almost space-age character while remaining rooted in 1950's design language.
The socket holders and small ribbed caps show a level of detailing that suggests a quality workshop production rather than mass manufacture. There are similarities in approach to designers such as Stilnovo or Arredoluce, although this piece stands on its own through its distinctive geometry and material interplay.
In good original condition with a nice, even patina on the brass and minor wear consistent with age. The wood elements are well preserved and give the piece its strong visual identity. Currently fitted with six E14 sockets.
A rare and decorative chandelier that works very well above a dining table or in a more intimate interior where the sculptural quality can be appreciated up close.
