Wegner “Sawbuck” Dining Table (Model AT-303) for Andreas Tuck, c. 1950s — Oak Version

This iconic dining table, often referred to as the “Sawbuck Table” (Model AT-303), was designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by A.J. Tuck in the early 1950's. Celebrated for its sculptural ‘X’ base, visible joinery, and refined proportions, it remains one of the most recognizable tables of Danish modernism.

This particular version is especially rare and desirable: it features a solid oak base with its original steel tension bars, and a beautifully aged oak surface. Most available examples are in teak, but the oak version—warmer in tone and richer in texture—offers a far more characterful presence. The table was acquired from the original owner, who confirmed it has never been refinished or sanded. As such, the surface shows a genuine, well-aged patina that reflects seven decades of respectful use.

The underside of the table bears the original Andreas Tuck maker’s mark, confirming its authenticity.

We have chosen to keep it in its original state, though we offer the option to have it professionally restored—lightly sanded and treated with oil or wax—should the next owner prefer a fresher appearance.

The solid oak frame was made by master cabinetmaker Andreas Tuck, and the table remains completely stable and structurally sound. It’s also highly practical: the legs can be easily removed for flat shipping.

Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) is regarded as one of the founding figures of Danish modern design. Like his contemporaries Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen, and Børge Mogensen, Wegner approached furniture as a fusion of craftsmanship, comfort, and sculptural form. His work for Carl Hansen & Søn, Fritz Hansen, and Andreas Tuck helped define the visual language of postwar Scandinavian design. Today, his creations are held in the collections of MoMA, the V&A, and Designmuseum Danmark.

Designed in 1951, the AT-303 is among Hans J. Wegner’s earliest collaborations with master cabinetmaker Andreas Tuck. The piece represents a pivotal moment in Danish modernism, where architectural logic and woodworking tradition were combined into a new, international design language.

We also offer a set of six Guillerme et Chambron dining chairs in solid oak that pair beautifully with this table. See our collection for options or ask for a custom seating proposal.

An authentic piece of Danish modern history—honest, functional, and quietly sculptural.

Dimensions
Width: 170 cm
Height: 70 cm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1020/8041/4083/files/f_45662252_1751261801334_bg_processed.jpg?v=1781284134
https://zegervanolden.com/products/hans-wegner-andreas-tuck-dining-table-303-oak-metal-denmark-1950s-f-45662252
