Credenza in Wood, Laminate and Brass Attributed to Gio Ponti, Italy, 1960s

Height: 35.44 in. (90 cm) / Width: 61.82 in. (157 cm) / Depth: 17.72 in. (45 cm)

Very elegant credenza in blonde wood and pink laminate. The credenza is quite high, because of it’s stiletto legs that really make this piece stand out from the crowd. The brass feet, that are so typical for this Italian sideboard, are very nicely aged but can be made more shiny if you wish. The four drawers are covered with pink laminate and the handles of the drawers have been cut back a bit towards the side giving it a playful and asymmetrical appearance. The white laminate rectangles, located behind the doorknobs, are serving as a contrasting color towards the rest. The side panels are a bit rounded at the edge and form a small ridge at the top. The top is in a very good condition given it’s age.

The credenza comes from a house near Genova that was full of pieces by Gio Ponti and for anyone who knows this designer, the similarities between this piece and his other work are abundant, hence the attribution.
