The sculptural rhythm of the ribbed and scalloped elements recalls the refined style of Paolo Buffa and other Italian masters of the period, giving the lamp a musical, almost lyrical quality. The deep red lacquer has aged beautifully, showing light wear that only enhances its character. Resting firmly on a solid three-legged brass base, this piece captures the classic elegance of Italian mid-century design. Shade not included but available for free on request. Requires rewiring before use, hence the price. The metal of the lamp is grey lacquered and it is telescopic until 300 cm which makes it pretty large. The metal conjunction is quite smart: it can move left and right and up and down and the form is quite interesting to look at too. Not only functional but also very beautiful. The lamp has a working bakelite switch.

Some old school industrial design but with some elegance and very functional if you need to lighten up a dining table or a corner and you have to come from the wall to reach that place. A surprising touch to every interior also because it can be used both as a floorlamp or as a wall-lamp. The telescopic pole is still very nicely straight after almost a century!

Dimensions
Width: 300 cm
Height: 30 cm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1020/8041/4083/files/f_42549292_1733214498106_bg_processed.jpg?v=1781284086
floor-lamp-carl-moor-bag-turgi-metal-brass-switzerland-1950s-f-45499882
Floor Lamp by Carl Moor for BAG Turgi in Metal and Brass, Switzerland, 1950's

Floor Lamp by Carl Moor for BAG Turgi in Metal and Brass, Switzerland, 1950's

A well designed floor lamp by Swiss designer and Professor Carl Moor, produced by BAG Turgi in the 1950's.

The lamp features two Diabolo-shaped metal shades, one in red and one in off white, mounted on a slender black frame. The contrast in color gives it a playful rhythm, while the shapes are deliberately in sync — especially visible in the way the upper parts of the shades mirror each other. The red shade is adjustable, allowing for directional light during reading for example.

The tubular frame is fixed onto a heavy base via an exposed clamping mechanism — a functional detail that adds visual interest. The foot switch operates both lights at once, with an additional small brass toggle to control one of them separately.

The lacquer on both shades is original, with a few minimal signs of age, which makes it very special. The piece has not been restored and was left intentionally as found — showing honest traces of 75 years of use. The foot is visibly patinated, with small rust spots preserved to highlight the lamp’s age and authenticity. These could be retouched on request, but we’ve chosen to keep them for now.

A rare and characterful piece with just the right balance between geometry and imperfection. Several lamps by BAG Turgi may surface now and then, but this one stands out — both in condition and expression.

The design brings together a bold and balanced combination of red, and white — a palette unmistakably reminiscent of the Swiss flag.

Dimensions
Width: 33 cm
Height: 173 cm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1020/8041/4083/files/f_45499882_1750232395723_bg_processed.jpg?v=1781284142
